Prior to starting at Ambition I worked for 6 years in a consultative sales role for London’s most successful real estate agency. Specialising in the CBD and North West London I sold niche properties at the top end of the market.

What first attracted you to the Ambition Academy?

After a successful career in London and on my return to Australia I was seeking a career change, ultimately in a new industry that would provide me with an opportunity to expand on my sales experience but assist me to develop professionally.

On my initial meeting with Ambition I was immediately impressed with the level of professionalism, integrity and the overall calibre of employees.

What attracted me to the Ambition Academy was the ability to learn the end to end recruitment process in a supportive and interactive environment with access to driven individuals within the business who I saw as active mentors. I felt this would offer me the best chance at a seamless transition into a new and successful career.

Typical day at Ambition Academy?

A typical day in the Academy begins with a team meeting where we communicate the agenda for the day. We would have an hour to follow up on any client or candidate calls made from the previous day. We would then attend a learning seminar with our Academy manager or another senior staff member. Topics for the learning seminar included; Successful Selling, Interviewing Techniques, Time Management, Business Development, Business Behavioural Types and AD Writing.

In the afternoon we put theory into practise and learnt through writing and placing an AD, calling clients and arranging meetings and sitting in on interviews with our colleagues. On several occasions we had guest speakers present their experience and insights into Banking and Finance, Accounting & the Technology industry and how they became successful.

How does working at Ambition help you develop as a professional?

Surrounded by exceptionally driven individuals who are committed to being the best in the business both personally and collectively has had a huge influence on me developing professionally. Over the past four weeks I have attended several knowledge forums hosted by my colleagues which are designed to share knowledge and skills. Today I attended a knowledge forum on client development focusing on increasing placement ratio.

What is something you know about Ambition that you didn’t know before you joined?

How genuinely supportive everyone is. Before you join a company you have an impression and you also anticipate a certain culture which it often doesn’t live up to. I can proudly say that Ambition has exceeded my expectations on all fronts.

What is your favourite perk?

I would have to say the social evenings and the Industry events hosted by Ambition. As a way of developing professional networks, Ambition sponsors events to benefit candidates, clients and employees alike. Recently I attended a Women with Ambition event where an inspirational female guest speaker offered a room full of professional women an insight into her rise to the top and the challenges she faced during the journey. For me it is a great opportunity to be exposed to such motivational people otherwise out of reach.

Who would you recommend the Ambition Academy to?

Anyone who is naturally self-motivated and is determined to succeed in a challenging yet rewarding environment. The great thing about the Academy is that recruitment experience isn’t required, just the right attitude. I would suggest it to anyone with a sales background or experience in a commercial environment looking for the next career move to apply.
